Contemporary Mosaic exhibition opens this week!

Art from the Heart presented by the Mosaic Association of Australia & New Zealand: Victorian Branch opens this week at Town Hall Gallery.

Art from the Heart supports and encourages individual mosaic artists to reflect on their personal inspiration and explore both the medium and form. The exhibition allows the public to learn and appreciate mosaic as an art form, and provides access to a variety of technical and creative aspects. The exhibition also acts as a platform for emerging mosaic artists to develop their art practice.

Several local artists will also be on display in the exhibition, all of which have come from a diverse background to mosaic. Some are mosaic studio teachers, hobbyists and professional mosaic artists; however all have embraced the high degree of skill needed to create these works.

Also included in this exhibition is the 30:30 Vision travelling exhibition. Viewers will be amazed by what these artisans have come up with in a 30 cm square space on the theme of Crusty Oceania.

"This is the second time Town Hall Gallery has hosted this exhibition and we are always wowed by the skill, innovation and imagination of these artists. I guarantee that viewers will be as well". Mardi Nowak, Gallery Curator.

There are two wonderful public programs held in conjunction with this exhibition:

In Conversation: join members of the Victorian branch of MAANZ through a guided tour of the exhibition and learn more about the materials and techniques used in contemporary mosaic.
When? Saturday 15 May 2pm to 3pm.

Mosaic Madness with MAANZ: join experienced mosaic artists and members of MAANZ and try your hand at a variety of mosaic techniques. Please wear appropriate studio clothing to participate. Cost of $5 plus $15 for materials on the day.
When? Saturday 22 May 1pm to 5pm.
