Apply for an Artist Studio at the Hawthorn Arts Centre

The Hawthorn Arts Centre is located inside a nineteenth century, Victorian-era town hall. In the upper reaches of the building we have converted the old Hall Keeper's apartment into a suite of artist studios. They vary in size and character, and would make for an ideal working environment for creative people. With a small kitchenette connected, wonderful views in a couple of the rooms plus a cafe and THG right downstairs, it could hardly be a more attractive proposition.

We have now launched our Expressions of Interest (EOI) period and would love to hear from you if you'd like to secure one of the studios spaces. The plans for the rooms, sizes and dimensions are included in the EOI Kit, which can be downloaded here. Photographs of the spaces are also available here

Some of the spaces might be more suited to writers, others to painters, perhaps others for photographers. Our intention is to ensure they are used by creative practitioners who will utilise their studio for the production of their work. A happy, vibrant hive of activity is our ultimate aim.

For those interested in applying, we will be holding 'open for inspection' times on the following days and times:

Tuesday 8 September 11am to midday
Thursday 10 September 2pm to 3pm
Saturday 12 September midday to 1pm
Wednesday 16 September 3-4pm
Wednesday 23 September 3-4pm

To come along and view the studios, please RSVP to townhallgallery@boroondara.vic.gov.au letting us know which time slot you'll be attending.

We expect to receive a lot of interest, so places will need to be allocated to ensure the best overall environment for the Centre and the creative practitioners working in that part of the building. We look forward to learning about your work and being able to provide space for your endeavours.

Applications are due no later than 5pm on Wednesday 30 September, 2015.
